How to get to Lake Bled

The simplest way to get to Lake Bled is the regular bus from Ljubljana via Kranj and Radovljica. Journeys on the timetable take 58 to 79 minutes. The central bus station lies north-east of the lake on Cesta svobode and Grajska cesta, about 3 minutes on foot from the water. Several buses an hour run in the evening, with larger gaps later, so do not assume a fixed half-hour service every day.

Trains and cars work too, with a few catches. If you would rather not plan the transfers, a guided trip from Ljubljana removes them: see the Lake Bled day trips from Ljubljana.

By train

Two stations, neither in the middle of town.

Lesce-Bled

This is on the main line toward Ljubljana and Jesenice. It lies about 4 km from the centre of Bled. You continue by bus or taxi, or on foot along a paved path for walkers and cyclists.

Bled Jezero

This station is on the Bohinj line toward Jesenice and Nova Gorica, about 1.5 km from the centre. Check that a through train exists on your day before you plan a direct trip from Ljubljana.

Autumn 2026 works

Sections of the Gorenjska and Bohinj lines are closed at times. Check the current timetable, there are replacement buses in autumn 2026.

From the airport

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport at Brnik is about 36 km from Bled. A public bus stops opposite Terminal A. Shuttle tickets are sold at Terminal B, where the taxi rank is in front of the terminal.

A single ticket from the airport to Bled, Ljubljana or Kranj costs €4 in 2026, a day ticket at €8 and a three-day ticket at €16. The ticket machine adds €2 for a chip card. This applies to the public service only, and not every line runs every day, so check the current service before you travel.
